Every year I try to give up something for Lent, not for religious reasons but because I like trying to challenge myself. Giving up cheese has been the hardest so far, but from 9th March to 23rd April 2011 I'm giving up meat. As you may have guessed from the title of this blog, I'm not expecting this to be easy - I love roast chicken, smoked salmon and my default meal is pasta with amatriciana sauce. However, I'm marrying a vegetarian and hopefully this experience will help me to find new recipes we can enjoy together. I'm also not allowing myself quorn products; we currently find them very useful but I'd like to use this opportunity to try more traditional vegetarian options. This blog will be a record of successful and unsuccessful meals, and my thoughts and feelings on the experience. Wish me luck!
